KNOXVILLE BOTANICAL GARDENS Greenhouse & Bar

During a short summer studio, students were tasked with designing a greenhouse at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens. Adjacent to the assigned site is an educational ‘drinks garden’ where all the plants grown are used to make both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Because of this, I renovated an existing building and patio to create a bar on one end of the drinks garden and designed a cannabis greenhouse on the opposite end. This project is designed to be both fun and educational. The goal is to bring more business to the Knoxville Botanical Gardens while simultaneously destigmatizing cannabis, as the garden is located in a community in Knoxville that is disproportionately criminalized for cannabis possession.
